Fifty-six players participated in a four-person scramble in November at Shalimar Point Golf Course to support a non-profit, Florida One—our local disaster response organization that provides training, education and stress crisis counseling to First Responders throughout Northwest Florida.
Preston Hood provided a hole-in-one car prize for a lucky winner. Unfortunately, no one drove away in the car that was parked at the 8th Par 3 tee box. In a score card playoff, the winners were a four-person team from Rocky Bayou Golf Club with a total score of 54. Congratulations Sandee Sundeen, Jamie Hill, Suhui Borkowski and Shannon Smith! With a score of 54 the second-place team winners were Ken Isham, Fred Wentland, Dayton Glass and Travis Holland. Longest drive award went to Jeff Grissom and Closest to the Pin was Bob Mathers.
The golf event was organized by Ann Hill, Director of Administration for Florida One. Chairman of the Board, Charles Linden, worked nonstop at the clubhouse with all aspects of the tournament. Located on Green Acres Road in Fort Walton Beach, this non-profit is funded through generous donations and fundraisers.
It’s comforting to know that these responders are here for all us. Their motto, “Prepare, Respond and Recover when Disaster Strikes” says it all. This team is ready to help at any time, and anywhere.
