Lewis School had its own version of Elf on a Shelf in December! Lewis’s principal, Lindsey Smith, welcomed students, thinking it might bring some Christmas cheer to all.
New principals were recently appointed by the Okaloosa County School Board. Lindsay Smith at Fort Walton Beach High School has lived in our area since 1995, and attended Lewis and Meigs Middle School and graduated from Choctawhatchee High School. She started teaching 10th-, 11th- and 12th-grade English as well as thinking skills and creative writing at Fort Walton Beach High School in 2006. She later became assistant principal at Bruner Middle School. She returned to Fort Walton Beach High School as an assistant principal in 2017, then became principal at Lewis School in January 2021.
Jason McClellan at Pryor Middle School started his career in Okaloosa County Education teaching 6-8 grades at Bruner Middle School. In 2008, he became Bruner’s Dean of Students; in 2011, he became assistant principal at Destin Middle School; in 2013, Niceville High School’s assistant principal. He has been principal at Mary Esther Elementary since 2015.
Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) recently received a generous donation of $10,000 from HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital. This contribution marks a transformative moment for the program, renowned for its commitment to cultivating highly skilled professionals in the healthcare sector. The donation will play a crucial role in the advancement of the NWFSC Radiography Program, providing essential financial support to deserving students, aiding them in pursuing their educational goals in this vital field. This investment represents a commitment to nurturing the aspirations of future radiographers and enhancing the quality of healthcare services in the community.
Join Beachworx Fort Walton Beach January 24, 5:30-7:30 p.m. for Entrepreneurship Mindset—a panel discussion with experienced entrepreneurs share insights for developing the right mindset and skillset required to succeed as an entrepreneur.
