Bobb Afev (1)Bobbi’s connection to the Air Force runs deep as her father served in the military. It was during her family’s time in Anchorage, Alaska, when Bobbi met her future husband at a local skating rink. “One look at him and I had a horrible crush! A cute boy from Alabama with brown curly hair. It was love at first sight,” reminisces Bobbi with a smile.

The couple was blessed with three daughters and served our nation at Air Force bases across the country and even in Morocco. Bobbi and her husband, Mercer, enjoyed 68 years of a loving marriage until he passed away several years ago. That’s when Bobbi made the move to our assisted living facility, Hawthorn House. “It’s the best decision I’ve ever made,” Bobbi tells me.

Bobbi cherishes the camaraderie and meaningful friendships she has discovered while residing at Air Force Enlisted Village. “Everybody here has something in common,” Bobbi says. She also enjoys the many activities that friends like you make possible for our residents.

The experience of living at Air Force Village has been all she’d hoped for – a safe and caring community of other widows who also spent their lives making sacrifices with their families
to help serve our country.

Says a grateful Bobbi, “I can’t tell you how blessed I am to be here. It’s absolutely great. I thank the good Lord for where I am. If I could rate it above 10, it would certainly deserve it!”
