Are you a graduating high school senior from Okaloosa, Santa Rosa or Walton County who plans to continue with your music education at the college level? If so, you’re invited to apply for a 2023 Scholarship from the Fort Walton Beach Community Chorus. Applications are being accepted now through April 7, 2023.
Two scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 each to two graduating high school seniors from either Okaloosa, Santa Rosa or Walton Counties who plan to continue with their music education at the college level (major or minor).
Established in 1993, the Fort Walton Beach Community Chorus Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to numerous long-time chorus members who have passed before us. Since 1993, FWBCC has awarded over $50,000 dollars in scholarships.
Each scholarship will be given to assist the student’s music study during a single college year. Just complete the Scholarship Application Form at fwbc-chorus.square.site; submit a Letter of Recommendation from your high school choral or instrumental instructor, or a licensed and qualified music instructor; and submit a 3-5-minute Video Performance. Return them to fwbcc1975@gmail.com no later than April 7, 2023. No late applications will be accepted for any reason. Applications will be judged on talent, professional appearance, presentation, poise and enthusiasm via Video Performance. Winners will be asked to perform at one of our three Spring Shows. The public is invited to join the Chorus for “Forever Country,” a spring show by the Fort Walton Beach Community Chorus at the Fort Walton Beach Civic Auditorium on Friday and Saturday, May 12- 13 (shows at 7 p.m.) and Sunday, May 14 at 3 p.m. The Chorus will pay tribute to songs from country music stars like Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Mattie & Tae and everyone in between. From classic country tunes like “Hey, Good Lookin’” to more modern pieces like “Crowded Table”, you’ll hear songs that are sure to touch the heart and appeal to your emotions.
