J & B Medical: The Solution to All Your Home Medical Equipment and Supply Needs

Local owners Jim and Kim Wonsick say coming up with the name of their business was easy, J – Jimmy (31) and B – Brandon (28) are their children who are now grown and actively involved in the daily operations. “In the beginning, we were primarily a respiratory company,” says Kim. “However, low insurance reimbursement, coupled with burdensome documentation requirements have pushed us in a different direction.”

Jb MedicalIn 2008, they moved to their current location and added a retail showroom, which was expanded in 2022. “We have grown our retail business into a one stop shop for all your home medical equipment needs,” says Kim. “We have daily living aids, bathroom safety items, pain management creams and lotions, gloves, lift chairs, power scooters, walkers, knee walkers, wheelchairs, hospital beds, wound care, catheters and so much more. We are also happy to carry items that our health care providers need such as littmann stethoscopes, manual blood pressure cuffs, colorful and fun compression socks, pen lights, medical scissors and more.”

During the Pandemic, Kim says the business was open the entire time. “Our staff was amazing and put themselves at risk daily to help our customers who had continuing need for medical equipment and supplies. We also worked very hard, sometimes around the clock, securing masks, gloves, hand sanitizer & cleaning products for our community as these items were not easy to find.”

Currently, J&B accepts Medicare, Tricare for Oxygen, CPAP equipment and supplies and knee walkers, but will be transitioning to billing insurance on some other items in the coming months as reimbursement rates continue to improve.

“Your compliance using the products your physician prescribes is a priority for us,” Kim says. “Our qualified staff will make sure you are properly fit for compression socks and stockings, braces and CPAP. You will not find a more trained staff, several of them have been with us a very long time, they know insurance billing rules and the products we sell inside and out and most of all they really do care about our customers. If you are new to Medicare we would love the opportunity to transition your CPAP service to our locally owned company.”

JB Medical Power Scooters Kim says they get asked weekly, why J&B Medical is more expensive than the internet. “The answer is simple,” she says. “Sometimes we are not; we try to be competitive with all of our products, but there are differences that you might not realize. We only stock the highest quality equipment and supplies, we assemble the products so you do not have to and we offer free maintenance on the products we sell. Many products require a prescription, but for unclear reasons online providers are not held to the same standards, which is very concerning. Our inventory is on site. So, if you have a problem, we can address it at the store versus you having to ship a product back and wait for a replacement.”

Kim continues, “If your rollator brakes need adjusting or your wheelchair wheel needs tightening you just bring it in. Receiving proper instruction is very important and we do that with all of our products. A good example is wheeled walkers are not safe for everyone and we will identify that and offer alternatives. You will not get that service from an online provider.”
