Transport yourself to Greece, sit under a canopy, enjoy delicious food with family and friends, while music and dancers provide you with enchanting entertainment. The parishioners of Saints Markella and Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church will host the annual Greek Festival, Oct. 18-20 at Saints Markella and Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (104 Bryn Mawr Blvd.), from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday the 18th, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday the 19th, and 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, the 20th. You will enjoy the sights, sounds and flavors of Greece.

Though the Church is the home to parishioners of many different ethnic backgrounds, this remains a marvelous opportunity for the community of the Panhandle to. There will be music, Greek dancing, vendors booths, children’s activities and, of course, some of the most delicious Greek food (prepared by loving hands) for your enjoyment. Wicked Triple Fun Run!

Runners…be a part of the Wicked Triple Fun Run 5K (5:30 p.m.), 10K (7:30 a.m.) and Half Marathon (7:30 a.m.) October 19-20 hosted by the Northwest Florida Track Club (NWFTC) and Run With It. The 10K runs through the neighborhoods surrounding downtown Fort Walton Beach starting and ending at Ferry Park on Hughes St. with awards ceremony immediately following. The 5K course will run along Beachview Dr. in Cinco Bayou, start line is across Eglin Parkway from AJ’s on the Bayou, with awards ceremony and after party immediately following. The Half Marathon starts and finishes at Ferry Park on Hughes St. with throw down immediately following. Food, drinks and live music! Cost is 10K $40, 5K $35, and Half Marathon $80 or all three for $145. Participants in all three races receive a finisher’s medal and a special edition long sleeve shirt! Presented by Bay Breeze Patio, the beloved annual event will include more categories for cook teams to compete in, and more opportunities for tasters to sample delicious bites and beverages.
