If you’ve spent any time in Florida, you know that fall here bears no resemblance to a New England postcard. You know the ones—with the winding roads flanked by trees dressed in various shades of yellow, red and orange, with air so crisp you can almost feel it through the photo. Here, the leaves don’t so much change color as hang on for dear life, and the cooler temps? Well, they mostly play Hide and Seek.
But the feeling is still there…The wind-down as we approach the end of the year, the crisp mornings (yes, they do happen—even if the inevitable heat of afternoon makes us question the veracity of our memories), the pumpkin-spice EVERYTHING that scents the air.
And while we may live in a state that seems to have a loose definition of seasons, we still revel in the idea of getting to pull out our boots, sweaters, jeans and coats—even if it’s more for your own satisfaction than necessity.

It’s the satisfying sound of tiles being shuffled, a little friendly competition and the kind of conversation that always makes you lose track of time.
